Meta Carbon

Free tools

Carbon calculators for the work you actually do

Pick the calculator that fits the question you’re trying to answer, a household lifestyle estimate, a year of business travel, the footprint of a digital ad campaign, a consumer product line, or a full corporate inventory. Every result is computed by our own code from documented public factors. The AI agent asks the questions; deterministic math does the arithmetic.

Defensible factors

Public methodologies, cited

Every number traces back to GHG Protocol, DEFRA, ICAO, Scope3, or Ecoinvent, not a black box. Each calculator page lists its sources.

Built to act on

Estimate → reduce → offset

Every result links straight to verified offset projects in our shop. Measurement is step one; the goal is to act on the number you just got.

Where the numbers come from

These calculators are estimators built for planning and offsetting decisions, not audited corporate reports. The underlying factors are drawn from public datasets that the carbon-accounting community treats as canonical.

Methodology

GHG Protocol

The international standard for corporate accounting. Defines what counts as Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and how to attribute them.

Methodology

DEFRA 2024

UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs annual conversion factors, the most widely cited public emissions dataset.

Methodology

Scope3 methodology

Open ad-tech emissions framework. Channel × device × network × geography per-impression factors that the industry references.

Methodology

ICAO carbon calculator

International Civil Aviation Organization model for per-passenger flight emissions, blended with a radiative forcing multiplier.

Methodology

Ecoinvent / Carbon Trust

Material-level lifecycle factors for cradle-to-gate manufacturing and per-GB streaming energy estimates.

Why measure at all?

Estimating the footprint of a flight, a campaign, or a product line is the cheapest way to find the biggest reduction opportunities. You can’t cut what you haven’t counted, and the act of counting often surfaces the one or two line items that account for most of the impact.

Once you have a number, you have three levers: reduce what you can change, substitute where alternatives exist, and offset what’s left through high-quality verified projects. Meta Carbon’s shop sells the same Verified Carbon Standard credits we retire on behalf of our partners, every tonne is traceable to a Verra registry record and a Stand For Trees transparency page.
